The test presented here is the Spiegel Sleep Questionnaire (SSQ), a short self-report scale developed by Spiegel and widely used in French sleep-medicine practice and research to evaluate the subjective quality of the previous night's sleep. It consists of 6 items covering sleep latency, sleep quality, sleep duration, nocturnal awakenings, dreaming, and morning state upon waking.
The test is designed to be completed each morning about the night just passed, and takes about 1–2 minutes. Because of this format, it is particularly well suited to repeated, day-to-day tracking of sleep over a period of time — for example, before and after a change in habits, treatment, or training load. On this scale, higher scores indicate better perceived sleep quality. The result is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace consultation with a specialist.
Insomnia, anxiety, and depression are often intertwined in practice and can reinforce one another. If you are more concerned about anxiety, tension, or worry, our anxiety test may help. If you are more concerned about low mood, loss of interest, or lack of energy, our depression test may help.
